General Questions

1. Any chance my child can play right now (after the Fall or Spring seasons begin)?
Very little.  Sometimes slots become available during the season; you can place your child on the waiting list by completing an online pre-registration at Register Now, and we will contact you if a space opens.

2. I don't have a computer or can't figure out the online registration. Is there an alternative?
Please visit a library or borrow a friend's computer, etc., and persevere with the online registration. Be ready with uniform (jersey) size and full contact information for player, parent(s)/guardian, and healthcare provider. (See jersey sizing information.) For help in registering, email registrar@rpayso.org

3. My child played in Northside Chicago AYSO (Rogers Park AYSO) last year. Do I need to provide a birth certificate at registration this year?
No. Proof of birthdate is required only if the child has never played with Northside Chicago AYSO.

4. Is the player fee pro-rated or reduced if my child can only play half the year?
No, the player fee is a single fee which covers the costs of running our region. Whether a player plays the full year (Fall and Spring) or just a single season, our costs are the same. If you can't afford the fee, financial assistance is available - no child will be left out for financial reasons. Contact the registrar at registrar@rpayso.org.

5. Can I get my child on the same team as his/her friend or request a specific coach?
No. Random team assignment, coupled with player ratings when available, is the best way to assure balanced teams. Only exception: If you have two children in the same age division, you can request that they be assigned to the same team.

6. My child will be four years old soon. Can she play AYSO soccer?
Yes, but they MUST be 4 years of age by July 31 of the registration year.  As this deadline is set by AYSO National, there is no exception to the minimum age requirement.

7. Do I need to register each of my children if I have more than one child playing?
Yes, you will need to register each child separately. Each individual player needs to be registerd with AYSO.

8. My child has played in Northside Chicago AYSO (Rogers Park AYSO) in the past, but did not play last fall, will we be able to register as a returning player?
You will have create a new account and register as a new player.

9. I want to be a coach. Can I request specific players?
No. Parents coach their own children. If coaches with talented kids team up, they have an unfair advantage.

10. When and where are games played?
All games for all divisions are played on Sundays.
For U10 and younger, we anticipate scheduling most games in Rogers Park at 12:15, 1:30, or 2:45. But, with relatively few U10 girls' teams this year, we scheduled two fall games and two spring games in Evanston to have more varied opponents, and the time slot they were able to give us was 4:15.
U12 will play most games in Evanston (various parks) and otherwise in Lerner Park or Rogers Park. Boys' times are typically between 1:15 and 2:45; girls have usually been getting scheduled at 12:00.
Games for the older divisions (U14 - U19) are generally played about half in Rogers Park and half in a variety of locations in our Area. The most distant possible locations are Highland Park, Rolling Meadows, and Mundelein. Game times may range from 12:00 to 4:00.
EXP games will typically start at 5:00 or 5:30. (The EXP program has separate registration and tryouts and requires playing in a regular division).
The most recent schedules can be taken as a rough example of what future schedules might look like.

11. When and where will practices be held?
The practice schedule are set by the coaches. Most teams practice once a week on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday beginning around 5:00pm. A few coaches have two practices a week but the majority of the teams only practice once a week. The only exception to the above discussion is for the U5 and U6 divisions which practice for the first half hour of their Sunday game slot and typically do not have other practices. Practices are generally held in Rogers Park or Lerner Park; occasionally a coach has utilized another nearby location such as Warren Park.

12. Do I have to provide an e-mail address when I register?
Yes, for three reasons. First, it enables the coaches to contact their players more efficiently. Second, almost all communication from the Region will be electronic. Third, National AYSO may make limited use in accordance with their privacy policy.

13. What if I miss registration?
If you miss registration, you must place your child on the waiting list and go through the waiting list process. Children on the waiting list will only be placed if there are team vacancies. If you are not contacted about placement, your child's name will remain active on the waiting list. Most children on the waiting list never get placed, but it's the only chance of filling any team vacancies.
