Safety First
Soccer is a physical sport that entails some degree of risk. Minor scrapes and strains are to be expected. But with reasonable precautions we can look forward to many seasons of injury-free play.
Each coach has a first aid kit. Let you coach know if your child has any illnesses or condition that he or she should be aware of. Bring ice and ziplock baggies to make ice packs for minor injuries. Also let your coach know if you know first aid or CPR. We can use all the help we can get.
Shin guards are mandatory for practice and game play.
Dress for the weather: In extremely hot, humid weather, bring extra water and ice. Water and ice with a cloth can cool down your player quickly. In cool weather, wear layers under your uniform such as turtle-neck and sweat pants.
Safe Haven
Northside Chicago AYSO participates in the AYSO Safe Haven program. This program is designed to protect both children and volunteers. One part of the program involves screening of volunteers, another involves training, and the final part involves measures to make sure that children and volunteers are never in compromising situations.
AYSO Soccer Accident Insurance
Every player that is registered with AYSO is covered by Soccer Accident Insurance, or SAI through their registration fee. Soccer Accident Insurance (SAI) assists with medical cost above a member's own insurance for injuries sustained during AYSO soccer games and practices. SAI applies to players, coaches, referees and all registered volunteers in the program at no extra cost.
