SELECT Program

Northside AYSO’s Select Program is a Competitive Travel Soccer with Northside AYSO that provides the opportunity to compete against club level teams while continuing to play with Northside AYSO.

Our Select Team adheres to the same philosophies and principles as our other AYSO programs, but offers a higher level of competition and more training opportunities. Select teams will have well trained, experienced volunteer coaches, and practices are led by paid professional trainers. A higher level of commitment to soccer and the team is expected.

Differences from Core AYSO Format

Select teams created based on an open try out - no guaranteed roster spots
Team will play in YSSL league, which is mostly comprised of soccer clubs in the Chicagoland area
Team will play in level best suited for team skill and competitiveness
Team will seek to play in one tournament in the fall and one in the spring
14U Select team plays 16 week season, 8 weeks in the fall and 8 weeks in the spring
16U Select team will begin training in the winter and play 8 week season in the spring
2 practices a week and play all home games on Sundays, with most away games on Sunday as well to accommodate many in our community. Away games may be scheduled on Saturdays given home team set their preferred day but we request all games be moved to Sundays, which most are able to accommodate.
Will have volunteer head and assistant coaches with professional trainers for practices

Time Commitment

Practice twice a week for 90 minutes and play games most Sundays during the season.
Expect a higher level of commitment from players to attend practices and games

TRYOUTS

*Initial tryouts for Northside AYSO’s 14U Select Team were held in June.
Full 16U Select Team and Supplemental 14U Select Team Tryouts

Date & Times: Sunday, October 12th 10-11AM / Thursday, October 16th
Location: Lerner Park (7000 N Sacramento Ave)
Eligible Players: 16U - Born 2010 & 2011 / 14U - Born in 2012 & 2013
ALL Players must try out to be eligible for the team.

Note: Our league does not yet offer a Girls 14U Select program as we do not yet have the demand for the program. Our league will continue to offer 14U Core inter-region play for both boys and girls.

COST
There is no to try out.
Fees for each team are established closer to start of the season. As a non-profit, community-run league we are committed to operating the team at cost so fees expected to be ~$500. Scholarship Funds are available upon request.
