Northside AYSO’s Select Program is a Competitive Travel Soccer with Northside AYSO that provides the opportunity to compete against club level teams while continuing to play with players from the Northside AYSO community.

Our Select Team adheres to the same philosophies and principles as our other AYSO programs, but offers a higher level of competition and more training opportunities. Select teams will have well trained, experienced volunteer coaches, and practices are led by paid professional trainers. A higher level of commitment to soccer and the team is expected.

Why Chose 14U Select with Northside AYSO:

1. Provide a pathway for our players to develop and play at a higher level with the intent to prepare them to play at the high school level.
2. Retain players and families interested in continuing to play and compete with kids in our community they’ve grown up playing with.
3. Offer a far more affordable option for families.
4. Develop a team structure that works for families in our community recognizing the cultural, religious and other socio-economic differences to ensure every child as the opportunity to play at the highest level of their ability.
5. Maintain AYSO core values.

Differences & Similarities to Current U14 AYSO Format

1. Team will be created based on an open try out
2. Team will play in YSSL league, which is mostly comprised of soccer clubs in the Chicagoland area
3. We compete against similar level teams from most clubs, so no need to worry about entering a league that would our team in a uncompetitive situation
4. Team intends to play at least one tournament in the fall and one in the spring
5. 16 week season, 8 weeks in the fall and 8 weeks in the spring
6. 2 practices a week and play all home games on Sundays, with most away games on Sunday as well to accommodate many in our community. Away games may be scheduled on Saturdays given home team set their preferred day but we request all games be moved to Sundays, which most are able to accommodate.
7. Will have volunteer head and assistant coaches with professional trainers for practices

Time Commitment

• Play and pactice for 9 weeks in the fall and spring, playing at least 8 games in both seasons for a total of 16.
• Practice twice a week for 90 minutes and play games most Sundays during the season.
•  Expect a higher level of commitment from players and families

TRYOUTS

Tryouts for Northside AYSO’s Select Team are held each Spring for the following Fall-Spring season.

• Dates: Monday, June 2 and Thursday, June 5
• Time: 6-7PM (Please arrive early and bring your own ball)
• Location: Lerner Park (7000 N Sacramento Ave)
• Eligible Players: Boys Born in 2012 & 2013 (club leagues separate teams based on birth year
• ALL Players must try out to be eligible for the team, current Select Team players need to try out for next season.

Note: Our league does not yet offer a Girls 14U Select program as we do not yet have the demand for the program. Our league will continue to offer 14U Core inter-region play for both boys and girls next season.

COST
There is no to try out. The fee for 2025-2026 season will be $350. The fee covers the costs of two uniforms, professional coaching time and general administrative costs for the league. Scholarship Funds are available.
